The Smell of Holly is making me sick

And The air is thick and its been this way for quite sometime
This past Christmas just wasn't the same, we weren't the same
As the lights upon the tree didn't glow so bright as they used to
And that feeling inside seemed to have faded away
like warmth through winter

While words slowly become meaningless
in this meddling o
f fate.
And you packed your bags, it seems you've found away
to leave it all behind

As our holiday became lost beneath the unspoken conversation,
the lonely silence

While prayer found me vague and defeated,
you tore yourself away inside

The dinner table was empty,
The tree undecorated and the lights dimmed

This past Christmas reflected everything we ever felt inside
As the sound of doors closing became more than comforting
And Poppa still sat around the fireplace, although no one else joined
And Momma cleaned the kitchen as she found her own place to mourn
As Goodbyes begin to feel more and more like home

cheers.
